Routine Preventative Well Visit, or “Check-up”

This is an office visit that occurs yearly for patients ages 3 years and above, and more frequently for younger children. The following may be included as part of your child’s preventative care visit:

• Physical exam

• Guidance on typical growth and development

• Vaccine recommendations

• Screening for tuberculosis

• Screening for mental health issues

Problem-Oriented Visit

This is a visit for an acute or chronic issue. These concerns may be brought up by the parent, patient, or Doctor/Nurse Practitioner. Examples are:

• Behavior, school, or sleep concerns

• Atypical growth and development

• Ear infection, cough, headache or rash

• ADHD, anxiety, depression, & substance abuse

• Asthma, allergies, eczema, or constipation

• Anemia or elevated lead levels

• Review of a specialist visit or plan

• Management of prescription refills or lab orders

How does this affect families?

We strive to address issues during preventative care visits to save families from making an extra appointment.

This means we bill for both a preventative and a problem-oriented visit; in compliance with insurance company billing policies.

While preventive services may not require a co-pay or deductible,

problem-oriented services do.
